Tech Brands Top List of World’s Most Valuable Ones

The annual study by brand consultancy Interbrand on “Best Global Brands”, which highlights the 100 most valuable companies in the world, reveals that tech, retail and luxury companies are on the rise.
The twentieth edition of the world’s largest brand valuation survey shows that the companies led by Tim Cook and Sundar Pichai continue to lead the ranking for the seventh year in a row, and that Amazon remain in third position for the second consecutive year.
The top 3 is followed by Microsoft ($108,847 million), which becomes the fourth global brand and surpasses the 100,000 million milestone in value, and Coca-Cola in fifth position, followed by Samsung and Toyota, while Mercedes-Benz, McDonald’s and Disney complete the top 10 ranking.

Especially noteworthy are Disney’s return to the top 10 after eight years of absence and the additions of Uber and LinkedIn for the first time in the ranking. Another company that returns to the ranking is Dell -the in 63rd position-, while Facebook falls from the top 10 list.
The consultancy highlights as the main conclusion of the 2019 ranking that customer expectations force companies to be dynamic. Brands that grow the most are those that make “iconic movements”, that is, big bets that transform the way they interact with their customers and that result in brands focused on consumer expectations.

Among the most relevant points of this new edition, Interbrand highlights:

  • Uber (87th) and LinkedIn (98th) enter the list of the world’s 100 most valuable brands for the first time.
  • Facebook (14th) falls five positions and leaves the top 10.
  • Mastercard’s value grows 25% and the brand moves up to the 62nd position.
  • Luxury is the most growing industry for the second consecutive year.
  • Zara moves down to the 29th position. In any case, it remains above H&M and, therefore, as the most valuable “fast fashion” brand in the world.
  • Banco Santander increases its value by 13% and climbs to the 67th position, remaining the most valuable financial brand in the eurozone.
