Gesvalt has recently started to operate in the Colombian market through the purchase of a local company. With the acquisition of Valuation and Real Estate (VRE), a reputed company in Colombia specializing in asset valuation, the company strengthens its presence in the country. This operation is part of the ambitious growth and international expansion plan undertaken by the company. At the end of 2017, it strengthened its position in Portugal through the creation of its own structure, and now, in a clear commitment to Latin America, the company enters the Colombian market.
Gesvalt will use the local knowledge of the newly acquired company and will implement its own know-how and technology. With this, it will continue to offer its valuation and consulting services, as well as advising investors. Apart from this, the operation seeks to strengthen industrial services, the valuations of start-ups and various services for the financial sector, including entities such as Banco Itaú, BBVA, Colpatria, Bancolombia, Banco de Occidente and Fondo Nacional del Ahorro.
The Colombian market’s appeal has played a key role in the choice of this country as the first destination in its expansion in Latin America. Nowadays, Colombia is enjoying economic growth -over the whole year 2017, GDP grew by 1.8%- with a favorable environment for international investment and a remarkable level of institutional stability. Furthermore, it has a young population and a consolidated banking system demanding new services. In addition, Spain, with more than 400 companies settled in the country -according to ICEX data- ranks third in foreign investment, after the United States and Panama.
This operation in Colombia implies the consolidation of the company’s expansion plan in Latin America. Gesvalt will operate from two offices in the country, located in Bogotá and Medellín. The firm also aims to expand its activity to other countries in the region, such as Peru and Chile, with a strategy based on the economy’s growth pace, future socio-political events in the area and the clients’needs.
